A new picture of a special fish for me, They are not very rare but the colors are so amazing.
And mostly they can change their colors like a cameleon... The name of the fish ''Paratheraps spec coatzacoalcos'' from the Río Ajal.
I have 6 of them and got them as small grey fish... and they look amazing now. 8) 8)

Hi Michael, I just love those Cichlasoma beani ''Rio Panuco'' and the Jack Dempsey, are the costs of keeping fish in Holland very expensive? I can imagine that electricity would be a lot especially in winter :?:
if I were a fish, I'd be a........uhmmmm.........a fish!

The electricity costs are not so high here, only i need to warm my tanks in the winter.. but i want to try to work with lower temperatures in the tanks this winter.
Because i want to keep my fish more natural and i think in nature the temperature will not be so high the whole year (26 to 28C) so i think 24C would be good enough.

By the way you got PM ;)

I think I once read in January the average temperature in Vera Cruz, southern Mexico, near the coast, is 20 C. The water might keep its warmth for a while, but as the rivers are flowing quite rapidly, this rest-warmth will be small indeed

Most of my CA cichlids are in my garage turned fish-house, which is unheated. In winter temperatures drop to 23 C or so - I would not mind a bit lower
