Discussion about cichlids from Africa other than Rift Lake

Identification Assistance Requested

Postby Joe Middleton » Thu Dec 22, 2005 11:25 pm

In the Central Americans' forum, someone posted a photo of a fish that I can not readily verify. Middle Africa's great cichlid diversity is largely alien to me. Any assistance in identifying this fish would be greatly appreciated. Please visit this post:

Thankyou for moving the post Joe.

The fish has been identified as Pelmatochromis Nigrofasciatus.

Cheers again

Not to toot my own horn, but TOOT TOOT!

I have a thread in this forum with a photo of my pair of Pelmatochromis nigrofasciatus sitting on eggs. I looked at the photos you had in the other thread, I only saw a male , or males. Females tend to be much smaller and stockier in appearance. Very mild mannered species, my 12cm male doesn't even chase the 3cm swordtail fry in there.
If you can't Dazzle them with your Brilliance, then try to Baffle them with your BullS***!
