Caquetaia spectabilis

Postby TheFishGuy » Sun Jan 31, 2010 8:03 pm

I just got four of these from Don Danko. What can I expect from them. I'm reading they get aggressive.

At what point does this happen?
When do they mature?
Can I leave the four ina 51"x19" tank or should I let them grow up in a 14' tank?

I hate threads without pictures...

Thank you :)

Mine were never what I would call aggressive. If they couldn't eat it, they didn't really bother it. Of course, they could eat quite large fish!

An approx. 4' tank might be a little small in the long run. I kept mine in a 6' tank and that worked well for me.

I agree with Dean. They were a lot like snooks in behavior, which is not really surprising. The got a little chippy when spawning, but minor fin damage and that was it. I had them in my 110 with some Tilapia mariae I was growing out. The combo worked well and they spawned a few times for me.

Nice looking fish, and not very common.

I like those.

Ive had them in the past. I never found them to be aggressive. They are a beautiful species, enjoy.

I've imported wild adults several times, they beat the hell out of each other.
An empty tank is a terrible thing to waste!

Which cichlid species are good co-inhabitants for them in your experiences?

Ok, so it's not my thread and I have no right to post a random pic, but it made me laugh.
