Help with id

Postby Alex Calder » Mon Feb 09, 2009 1:03 pm

I did a visit to Mainly Cichlids which is owned by Jim Ellenberger and one fish is leading to a series of questions.
The picture is nice but with out a reasonable identification I can not chance it in the CB.

It was labeled Pundamilia igneopinnis Blue Bar Hippo Point and has not fully colored up yet.

Thank you for any help,
Alex

The argument I have been facing is that the name references two different species.
I have contacted several sources about this fish and will report back to each thread once
I am reasonably assured. Aka Once one of the people I trust agrees with the information
provided as I stink at this game. :)

Here is the resounding answer, I'll gladly take any response be it a thumbs up or an argument against.

Pundamilia sp. "Blue Bar" Hippo Point

I side with Pundamilia sp. "blue bar" as well. Interestingly this fish will likely be shown to be Pundamilia pundamila. It s one of the most northerly occurring Pundamilia species from Hippo Point in Kenya.
