Melanochromis chipokae

Postby xfairycakex » Sat Dec 13, 2008 4:48 pm

Hello, I'm new to this forum and I am having a problem I hope you can help me with.

To give you a bit of background info I have a Rio 300 with 100ltr sump. The fish in question is as above a female Melanochromis chipokae. I have had her for about 1 year now and she has proved to be very good at holding. Until recently we have let her release the fry into the main tank. Now because we were feed up with fishing fry out of the sump we decided to give stripping a go.

Everything went well and we got about 35-40 fry. Now its two weeks latter and she is not looking good at all. She is not eating as much as she used to and is looking very thin and her mouth had not gone back to normal like it used to. I have just had a look inside her mouth (because she can't keep it closed) and there seems to be a very large white lump that seams to be attached to something at the back of her throat.

I can't find any pictures of anything like it on the net and I don't think I could get a picture of it because its a very small space to see into.
I don't know if its normal or not, Can any one help me?

Thank you in advance.
Clare.

How did you strip the female and did you damage her mouth?

If it was so,it might be;and if it were so,it would be;but as it isn't,it ain't.That's logic.Tweedledee.Image
