In the water sheds of Panama, home of Nananluteus, I've seen several different types of habitats for this gorgeous fish. From raging torrents to seemingly slow moving waters, from somewhat cool to warm (upper 60s to low 80s) waters and pH can also vary wildly from low 7 to mid to upper 8 range.

Lots of plants in the water?

The question wether the one mentioned earlier is male or female appears to have been answered by the fish themselves: yesterday, when we got home from a weekend Belgium, they had a little surprise for us: They have laid eggs! I quess about 100. I think tomorrow or wednesday we will know for sure. I will let you know what happens.

Bas Pels wrote:I hope you will breed them soon, just as hope mine will too. The fishes are far too beautifull to disappear from the hobby

When you have some young males and want to sell or trade; I'm interrested: I have two spare females.

The only plants present was were grasses hanging over the banks and a bit submerged.

Females have the "spot" in the dorsal.

Congrats!

Norcal, I have a pair and a few fry at the Sacramento State fish lab. I recently lost my other two pairs due to heater failure. Once I rebuild the stocks a bit, I'm sure I'll have some extras.
