Tropheus Ndole

Tropheus Ndole
Well my first generation from wilds (WC bred by a BCA friend) have grown a little.
Just started to breed but not holding to term yet.
Sorry about the photo quality but I think you can get the general idea.

female I think (not the one who has held and I have not vented them so not 100% sure)

Who says Tropheus can not be kept in a community. :D

This is not a serious breeding set up.
But should I be looking to add WC or another source of first generation from wild females to the group to reduce inbreeding?

They are all Ndole bred from a group only containing only WC Ndole (from Verduigen Cichlids). I checked back that far and checked out the breeding WC group as pure, as far as I could tell.
I know what you mean though I think. Their colour seems to change a lot with mood and setting. We used to call this group (Chimba, Ndole, Sumbu, Nundo, Chilanga etc) talking Tropheus because of it.

Great tropheus! The Ndole have become quite popular - for good reason, their range of color is fantastic, yours seem to be no exception!

Thanks guys. Very friendly comments.
I wish I could get photos that showed em a little more accurately they (the females and sub dom males) do look a bit lighter with a flash than they do in the flesh.
Rather poor video of the tank.

Hopefully showing the activity and aggression and normal fight behavior that make these guys such a pleasure but still a slight challenge to keep.

I have had far more peaceful groups of Tropheus (the WC these were from seemed far more relaxed with each other too) but the variety you get seems to be part of the pleasure?

lovely Tropheus

yes, they can be fitted in any community, given that the rest like the Tropheus diet :P

when I kept mine -I had sp Black Rutunga, the Brabant moori aka Firecracker- I had 2 Synodontis species in there, Triglachromis otostigma, trets, Cyps, Telmatochromis dhonti and the like. perfectly possible.

the tret I fed snails; this is proteinrich food the Tropheus doesn't even look at :D

nice mix up!

Hi Sidguppy.
Only one there that is news to me Triglachromis otostigma.
Yep to be fair on the multies and comp and danios they will be replaced eventually.
The comp and multies only in there really because they were the ones kicked out when forming groups/pairs in a more carnivour tank.
The Opthals will need a tank they can dominate soon I think.
