discus filtration

Postby Tilly » Wed Nov 12, 2008 9:53 pm

I want to start raising some domestic discus and need to know the best filtration to use.
I now have 24 aquariums up and running using a linear pump and sponge filters. Is this type of filtration acceptable for raising discus? I know I will have to do more water changes in the discus tank.

The tank I am setting up for the discus will a 55 gallon (48x13x20)
Thanks for the help

It wouldn't really matter so much what sort of filtration you were using for discus since you'll be raising them. That requires a lot of food and that pollutes the water no matter the filter. So, you'll be doing lots of water changes anyways. :)

It sounds like you are setting up a standardization for a small production line.
I use 2 large sponge filters in every line tank. I clean each alternately.
Other than that, it is all feeding and changing water.
