Navigation to Front page?

Postby Darrell Ullisch » Thu Sep 18, 2008 11:49 am

Hey, I don't know what happened. I have the forum page bookmarked, but sometimes I need to check things in the Catalogue. For a while it was possible to navigate back there by clicking the Peacock Bass in the upper left corner, but currently he's connected to the Forum index, which doesn't make a lot of sense because I'm already there.

Did someone goof and change the link accidentally? I'd really like to be able to jump out and check on some fish once in a while!

I think this has been reported a couple times. I guess it was changed purposely.

The thing is, I forgot where to change it back... I will get to it as soon as I can. Thanks for pointing it out

It should reside in the following file.
Code: Select all
/forum/styles/prosilver/template/overall_header.html

Sorry for the second post but I realized you might need the line too.
Code: Select all
<a href="{U_INDEX}" title="{L_INDEX}" id="logo">{SITE_LOGO_IMG}</a>

It should look like that.
Change:
"{U_index}" to "http://www.cichlidae.com"
"{L_index}" to "Site Home Page" (or something like that)

Thanks Alex, in that file the value is handled by a variable {U_INDEX} but I can't find where to set the value for that variable. I don't want to make it an absolute value as with version updates I would have to do it all over again again. In the phpbb_config table there is not that value either. Also the dimensions for the main page logo are somewhere but cant find them, hence it has the dimensions of the phpbb3 logo and the crc logo image shows elongated.

If you change U_INDEX in the language file you will end up changing every link in the software that uses that variable.
You should just hard set it there and count on having to fix it on updates.

Do you keep a current site back up on your own computer?

I do Alex, I make a daily backup of the three databases; crc, ask pam and forum. I do keep a backup of all scripts on my laptop as well. Thanks for your support, everyday I have more ideas but everyday they are more difficult to pursuit :-)

I appreciate your help!

Thanks again Alex, you already have been of great help. When something else comes up, I will let you know. Right now I am working on what I think will be some very cool scripts for some graphics and reports titled "cichlids in numbers", with the help of Richard Robinson who went species by species to see what described taxa were missed in the CRC catalog, I am happy to say that in a few days the cichlid catalog will be complete in regards to described taxa.

I know it doesn't always get said, so I'd just like to say Thank You for fixing that link! Usually I'm running from the forums here to double check something anyway, and that makes it much quicker. Thanks again! :D
