Species by the dozen, a new trent? a few month back almost a dozen Rhineloricaria were described

Still, I've seen P caudimaculatus was quite a flexible species, but I did not know it was the only Phalloceros (yet)

Must be students of Costa, he likes to put out new names at the wholesale level. In one paper he did 7 new species of Rivulus from the (formerly small) subgenus Melanorivulus not too long ago. Of course, he also has a history of reversing himself and synonymizing some species that he described back into previously described species.

His influence with the Brazilian government is also well known, as he is likely the single person most responsible for shutting down the shipping of undescribed species out of Brazil, and foreigners coming in to collect fish. Can't blame him completely, but would have preferred to see some sort of controlled, cooperative effort instead of a big "Keep Out!" sign.
If you can't Dazzle them with your Brilliance, then try to Baffle them with your BullS***!
