tropheus kiriza tank 2000liters

Postby tanganyikadiver » Fri Jul 18, 2008 1:27 pm

hi,

the tank is 300cmx100cmx65cm (2000 liters). the currence in the water is about 10.000 l/hour so the fish are in real movement of the water. on top of the tank are 2 HQI lights of 150 watt who give "natural sunshine"
the tank of of a habitat up to 5 m deep.

just turned one of my tanks to a good old tropheus tank. i just love the activity again.
they are about 30-40 kiriza's.
joined by:
6 cal. pleurospilus
6 spathodus er.
6 synodontis multipunctatus

in the next few weeks also
lamprich. tang and C. horei will follow to make the communtiy complete.

very impressive, any chance of a frontal shot of the tank (assuming that you'd either need a wide angle lens or do a panorama)

a lot of light in the tank though, have you considered trying LED's, I've had a fair bit of luck on my 180g (183by61by61) using 4 1w LED's, obviously nowhere near as bright as that, but perfectly suitable for viewing fish, and gives the wonderful shimmy lines that you associate with sunlight and water.

hi,

not yet been able to make a frontal pic without to much reflection. will try in the evening soon.
the hqi lights combined with the currence also creates beautifull lines that you associate with sunlight and water.

the S. multipunctatus are already not shy anymore and the 2 cal pleurospilus both take a part of the tank without annoying the females.

greetings

Great tank! Okay, I've seen enough! I'm inspired to create one of these magnificent tanks! I was recently given a 4x2x2 (120 gallon tank with built in filtration) so I will build a similar tank starting tomorrow. Right after I move a ton of limestone and 4 cubic yards of mulch.

At my local fish club tonight I was fortunate to get some nice Tropheus sp. "Cheery Cheek". Since I just got these and I have not had time to research them does anyone have experience with this fish?

Nice tank, the size is big enough to put in a nice group of Petrochromis also
