Yellow Tropheus SP. "Bemba"?!

Postby Paulo José Alves » Fri Apr 15, 2005 5:44 am

HI

An acquantice of mine who owns a store has about 15 Tropheus with a great yellow band in the midle of the body. He received them as "BEMBA". Now, as far as I know the T. sp. Black from Bemba is red in the middle of the body, I´ve seen them many times. They came as such from a very reputable Exporter. Was it a big misidentification from the exporter or there is here something I don´t know?

Hi, I think it's T. sp. kiriza

Like this ?

Kiriza is a village on Ubwari peninsula, Bemba is more at north of this area, maybe a Tropheus with yellow band live at Mboko just near Bemba.

Bye.

Hi Benoit

Thanks fot the reply. In the store there were Kiriza like in the pictures you brought. The suposedly yellow Bemba had a broader band with not very well defined limits.
I´m sure it was a mistake from the exporter.

I think that in the soputh ob Pemba, close to Mboko (where the Tropheus have a thin yellow stripe) there is a population of Tropheus intermediate between Pemba and Mboko with a wide yellow band.

Hi

Those who replied were correct. The exporter investigated what had happened and yes they are Mboko or similar to, with a broad yellow band. Thanks for the help.
