Paretroplus kieneri spawn

Postby Alfon76 » Mon Mar 08, 2010 6:10 pm

I had finished reading Klaus' thread on his baby Kieneri and went to work on my tanks when I saw one pair of my Kieneri had spawned. This is the first time this species have spawned for me despite being the one species I have kept the longest. Very excited about this to say the least and very unexpected as well because not even any courtship was observed yesterday.
I can't remove the eggs as they laid them on the bottom panel of the tank but hopefully I can syphon enough fry when they hatch in a couple more days. Raising them should be another story although I sure hope to get lucky as I have been with the Menarambo.
The pics are terrible as can be expected of me, but they give you an idea what I'm working with right now.

Sorry for the long delay in updates. By the next day they had eaten all the eggs. SInce this is the first time they spawned for me I am not surprised so hopefully they'll keep trying.

It is quite normal that the cichlid eats the eggs the first 2-3 times.
