Ptychochromis grandideri Sexing

Can anyone definitively tell how to sex Pty. grandideri? Is there a difference in fin shape, or coloration? I have a group of 4 pushing toward 6" (15cm) TL. All appear to be visable the same. Three of the 4 have what looks like ovipositors coming down. The fourth's tube is not out, but it looks very simiIar to the other 3. I also have 5 that are 3"(9cm) TL and they all look like the first set of 4. In this group 3 of 5 appear to have their ovipositors down. They are thick, white and fleshy like a females ovipositor. The other 2 show no signs of dropping a tube. Keep in mind that all of the are from the same original spawn. I am at a loss. Is it possible that I got 9 females? That would be very unfortunate and disturbing.

these are hard to sex; but it's possible if you got a group, like you have

the best way is the golden band on top of the dorsal.
in males, this is all the way to the very end of the fin; in females it tend to fade away an inch or so before the end of the fin

apart from that they look EXACTLY the same, shape, size, coloration.

mine bred a few times (I got 1 male and 2 females), and this is the only difference

both sexes have the poink tube, but in females it's thick and blunt, in males it's smaller and more pointed, but it's there.

they have the largest 'dongs" I have ever seen compared to size in any cichlid I know.
