Beautiful tank!

where did you get the fishes from? zoos? or hobbyists?
some of these species are rare in Europe.

btw, don't be surprised if you wake up one day and see a tank without plants.
Paretroplus is a bit like a cow and sooner or later they'll strt to graze.

mine have aquired a taste for greenery that even fast growers like potamogeton or hard-leafed plants like Anubias are just extra food

but it's a great looking tank

I envy your katria and kieneri ;) :D

hi Endymion,

nice setup, but I think you can't keep all these fishes together in this tank.

Paretroplus menarambo will grow to more than 25 cm TL. In the long term, I think it will be better to keep only a pair or trio of each "small" species in this tank and move the P. menarambo to a bigger aquarium if you want to keep a group. A pair of P. menarambo can be kept in this tank...if it's a specific/breeding aquarium.

Your Bedotia, sold as geayi in the trade, are in fact Bedotia madagascariensis.

Hope this helps,
Best regards, Michael

If the tank gets to small I buy a larger one ;)

That's the spirit! LOL  Unfortunately there aren't many people like us willing to spend the extra coin for the sake of the fish!

That is a beautiful site. Are you going to pull the fry or leave them in the main tank?

Hi Endymion,

This is a very nice collection of fish you have.
I had the opportunity a couple of years ago to keep some of these but it was the size of the tank required that put me off being able to keep them.

I hope you didn't have to let go some vics to make room for them

Nice tank.

I also have both aponogetens and am wandering if you hibernate yours or just leave them to die off a bit and grow back. Are you using any fertilizers?
I am surpirsed your fish haven't eaten the plants yet.
