Pundamilia sp. "Blue Bar" Hippo Point ID confirmation

Postby Colby Dixon » Wed Jul 29, 2009 9:42 pm

Hey folks,

The Cichlidbase project needs your help! While Alex Calder is working on version 3.0 (Blog) we are attempting to positively ID and validate suspected ID's of many of our Cichlid photographs. Juan has graciously agreed to let us use this Forum's Expertise in verifying our photos. Any and all help is appreciated. All photos by Alex Calder.

Thank You,
Colby Dixon and the entire Cichlidbase team.

This one was originally labeled as Pundamilia igneopinnis "Blue Bar Hippo Point"...(which doesn't seem correct) and after some discussion we feel it is not P. igneopinnis.
We are going with Pundamilia sp. "Blue Bar" Hippo Point

Hi guys

This is a sub dominant male blue bar. This particular species is almost certainly Pundamilia pundamilia with the collection point being Hippo Point Kenya. It is one of the most northerly occurring members of its genus.
