The fish in the pictures looks a lot like the Fine Bar Scrapers I have also, but I have never kept Nubila either. Their dorsal fin does have a touch of red to the back with an irredescent blue sheen too the majority of it. All of my females and sub dominant males have a large black patch on their bodies just before the dorsal fin.

I am also interested to find out if the fish commonly referred to as "nubila" actually is "nubila".

Here is a picture of a fish sold to me as Astatotilapia nubila. This fish is only about 1.5".

Hi philip and Greg are right but until the fishes we have are not clearly identified, I refer to the name we use in the hobby. it's more simple. the fish to be more precies is off a nubilus type without being really sure that it's the real one.

Hi
A lot of fishes with black body and some red on the fin have been called H. nubilus. In fact, in the past, when a fish was lokking like this, people always said that it was a H. nubilus.
And there was a big mess with these fish coming from different location, with probably hybrids.
I think, the first step is to find out where the wild have been collected.
I remember that in 1990 there was a strain of a fish called H. nubilus at the Aquarium of Liege, Belgium but collected in lake Ihema in Rwanda. I will try to see if it still exist and if they still have picture of them. :?
