Sexing Eretmodus cyanostictus Kasanga

Postby amiidae » Fri Nov 18, 2011 9:02 pm

Hello, I am new here. :)

Back to the question.

May I ask apart fm venting, is there other external diff I may look to sex this Goby ?

I have 2 and they seem swim side by side fm time to time yet I can't really say they are 'paired'.

Thanks

If they don't harass each other they are a pair.

Eretmodus will share in care of the eggs. This could be the male doing his turn.
The only 100% sure way to find out which is the female is to actually see her laying the eggs :D

Thanks.

What is important to me is to know that I have a confirmed pair. :)

Don't forget, some fish will have females spawn together. Once you see the fish holding beyond 5 days, then you have a pair. :)

Photos of the parent fish are more than ok, but I can see no reason for stripping them.
Cheers

Thats because I have quite a few other species of fish sharing the same tank with the new pair. so reckon it will be safer to strip her fm the eggs earlier than later.
