synodontis egg "trap"

Postby Jshakour » Mon Mar 21, 2011 9:21 pm

I was thinking of trying to breed synodontis petrocola, I was over a fellow OCA members house and he had two flower pots put top to top with hole for the cat fish to get in and marbles on the inside. I saw a design online and decided to take a shot.

I plan on putting a pot upside down on top of this container, my only question is do I add more marbles? To me if I add more marbles, how will the eggs fall to the bottom of the container?

What have you guys used in the past?

I bred them by a very similar method, I used a 20H tank with marbles about 1-2" thick in the bottom, I could look at the bottom and see the fry, I also did a tank with spacers and eggcrate and marbles on top. Anything similar to that should work. After you get fry, just move the parents out and raise the fry.
