Stocking 200 litre tanganyika tank

Post by JTHP » Sun Sep 10, 2017 8:27 am

Hi all! this is the third forum I've tried, I'm really looking into converting my 200 litre aquarium into a lake tanganyika tank, my tank dimensions are 100cm long, 40cm depth and 45cm height.
My real problem is I have no idea about tanganyika stocking!!! the list of fish Ive been looking at are:
Cyprichromis leptosoma ( any suggestions on any other Cyprichromis or sardine cichlid that may be better)
Neolamprologus leleupi
Neolamprologus Brichardi
Any Juli
Any shellies
I have no idea about how many I can have of each or if they'll get on, I really need help!
My ideal stocking would be:
6x Cyprichromis leptosoma ( any suggestions on any other Cyprichromis or sardine cichlid that may be better)
4x Neolamprologus leleupi
2x Neolamprologus Brichardi
2x Juli
Group of maybe 6 shellies
Again any help would be great! thank you in advance

Cyprichromis leptosoma is quite agressive towards own species when housed in small Group, and your tank is too small for a larger Group. Paracyprichomis brieni would be better choice. Rest of the tank would be fine for a single pair of smaller jullies (ornatus, dickfeldi). I would give up with neolamprologus leleupi cause he grows quote large (as for this tank). Neolamprologus brichardi Will dominate whole tank in few months when adult. Some shellies will do. So my shot with your tank would be:

Paracyprichomis brieni x 10 (3-4 males, 7-6 females)
Pair of Julidochromis (dickfeldi, ornatus, maybe marksmithi)
Lamprologus ocellatus (1 male 2-3 females)
