Requesting pictures

Postby Phreatobius » Fri Jul 10, 2009 11:56 am

Hello everyone, Im requesting pictures of severums, i guess i should explain why because its for a very important reason in my life. A year and a half ago my father passed away.He was was terminally ill for the last 8 years of my life and was constantly in and out of the hospital. I spent every birthday and christmas in a hospital while my father lied on his death bed. He was a fighter though an every time he some how, against all odds, survived. Until December 23rd 2007 when he passed. The last thing we did together, before he was to weak to do anything, was to build an aquarium. SO we went out and bought a new 46 gallon bowfront and all of the equipment. After it was all set up and cycled, we went back to the LFS and chose a few tetra and a week later we went in and bought a juvenile severum. For the last 2 weeks of his life he was in bed and we would sit there and watch the little guy. It was his favorite fish in the tank and even when i wasnt there my mom said he would watch it all day. Sadly after he passed my mom was over whelmed and i was kicked out of the house. I could not bring the aquarium with so the fish died not long after that. So the picture that I i like the most i was hoping to make a tattoo in memory of the last project my father and I had together. Thanks in advance,
David Lymburner

If no one postss a picture for you I'm sure an internet search or two would find a picture this fish. Once you do simply ask the author or photographer for a digital copy and permission to use it. Good luck with your endeavor.

Was it a normal green severum, a gold or one of the other species that are in the hobby?

Wow Lisa thanks for all the help doing what i already did. If i was looking for crappy picture for a tattoo in memory of my father i would have taken the first severum shot i saw. I came on the forum because i knew how passionate people here are about their fish and i know the quality of the photos produced by many of the memebers. Thanks for the slap in the face.

You may want to tone down that attitude. How was I supposed to know you've done that already? You may want to consider that I did not have to even look that up for you and give you the link. I was being helpful, but this is not the sort of reaction you want to get to helping someone out. Sarcasm will not get you the pictures you want.
Please consider that the next time you decide to use it.

That's not very nice. What's wrong with the photos of severums on the CRC Catalogue? The main pic is very nice and should be able to be tattooed by any capable artist.

Hello, I know I was rude and it was uncalled for its just a really touchy subject for me. It was also a very rough couple of days. Im sorry for my behaviour Lisa. Thanks Ken I didnt realize there was the catalogue section on CRC as i dont visit that section of the site. Very nice tattoo though. Is that your or someone you know? Where did you get it done if it is yours? Again Lisa very sorry for how i reacted and i understand you were just trying to be helpful. Thank you :(

Hey David,

I understood it's a rough time, and I can appreciate that. Let me see if someone I know has a good photo for you. I know he has severums, but can't recall if they're greens though.

It is mine and that pic was taken when it was just done. It's more like this now :) I had it done in London, Ontario, a few years back and the guy did it from a book cover. It is very close to the front cover of Heiko Bleher's huge discus book and my arm should be appearing in the Chinese and Portuguese versions of his book. They are being printed now :D

Wow, that is quite the tattoo Ken, I bet Heiko was impressed :D

Meanwhile, my Green Severums are about 7 or 8 years old now (my golds are 3 years, and Red shoulders are about 2 years old)

I checked back in my photo archives to 2005 for some juvenile shots, but the greens were already 2 to 3 years old by that time and don't look look juveniles any more.
Photos before that were on 35mm film and printed

I will post some photos later tonight when I get home and you can decide if you want to use them or not ...
