Geo I.D From AUS!!!!

Hi all. Some of the geos we have over here is a bit unknown lol.



These are the fish in question.
We class these as geophagus brachybranchus and some people class them as geophagus surinamensis.
The biggest male we have is about 25 -28cm TL. Just to give you an idea on the size they get to.
So can anyone help please!!!? Be good to know what these are.

These specimens do look a lot like G. brachybranchus to me. The only thing bugging me is there is no preopercular stripe in these photos which is a distinguishing feature of this species. Maybe someone else can chime in....

Abarilot, I think in such an adult fish (which one does not see too often on websites) the operculum mark might not be clearly visible.
