Rancho does seem to be 'spanified' from ranch
However, the Uruguayan name for a ranch is estancia.
As far as I know, Felipe comes regularly to 2 enstancias, one in the for west of the region Treinta y tres. Australoheros sp local, Gymnogeophagus blue neon and G labiatus sp big lips comes from this locality
The other is on the Brasilian border, If I remember correctly, on the Rio Cuareim, but I never went there. Whether any labiatus comes from this place, I could not tell
But perhaps G sp rancho is blue neon and G labiatum sp rancho is big lips.
Still, the names could just as well be phony. I'd require photos
