Geophagus Branchybranchus?

Hi Guys,

I bought this species as geopahgus branchybranchus, now i'm doubting, could someone pls help me out?

Difficult to be affirmative but it seems that they are G. dicrozoster, but those fish were called G. cf. brachybranchus before their description for example in Weidner's book

Hi,

Thanks for the response, but dicrozoster had the 'Y' band, no? And in the first picture, you can see clearly that they only have 5 straight bands.

G. brachybranchus have dots in the caudal fin, not stripes . G. sp Guyana/Rio branco alos have dots in caudal fin

The Y bar of G. dicrozoster isn't always clearly visible but you are right, only the fish on the second picture look like G. dicrozoster

G. winemilleri have only 4 oblique bar

So I don't know the species of your fish. Try to get more picture in different mood
