HOW DO I SHOW MY FISH?

Post by carlt54 » Thu Oct 23, 2014 10:25 am

What do I need to bring to the EXTRAVAGANZA to show my fish? Do I bring my own tanks or do they provide the tanks? Also what about water changes? And most important, will it be warm enough for the fish?

Very easy...and yes the room will be plenty warm enough...and on real sensitive fish, you can bring a heater (like discus)..but most everyone does not. You provide the tank, cover (the smaller the better) and fish...we provide the airline, valve, air, hydro sponge filter, water, placement, etc.....here's some of the rules that can be found under the extravaganza tab on the website ohiocichlid.com ..also, you can pay for all your entries at the show.... Hope this helps!

Equipment

1. The OCA will provide air, airline, and air valves for each show exhibit. Hydro-Sponge-1 filters can be pre-purchased for tanks 5 ½ gallons and larger (see registration form).
2. The exhibitor will provide the tank, show fish and “special purpose” sponge filters (for tanks smaller than 5 ½ gallons). (10 gallon tanks can be pre-purchased, see registration form).
3. Dechlorinated water will be available on site.
4. The OCA will provide tables for containers 29 gallons or 30 inches maximum.
5. Any exhibit over 29 gallons or 30 inches; exhibitor will provide the stand.
6. Containers must have a flat viewing side.
7. Containers will be bare except for air-stones and air driven filters.
8. Containers will have a bare or solid background.
9. All containers must be covered securely to prevent jumpers.
10. No sprays, window cleaners or other chemicals will be permitted in the show area.

General Rules

1. All exhibits will be under control of the show committee.
2. No exhibit will be dismantled prior to 12 noon on Extravaganza Sunday without permission from the show chairman.
3. Show fish designated by exhibitor for auction must be registered and bagged by the exhibitor. Auction registration is on Extravaganza Sunday from 8am to 10am.
4. All exhibits will be removed from the show area by 5pm on Extravaganza Sunday.
5. Any exhibits not removed by 5pm will become property of the OCA.
6. The Ohio Cichlid Association or the Holiday Inn Strongsville will NOT be held responsible for any loss or damages incurred during the show.
7. We, the OCA, will do our utmost to ensure the highest amount of care and security is given to each entry.
Sincerely,

The OCA will provide tables for containers 29 gallons or 30 inches maximum.
Do Not Bring a 29 Gallon Aquarium for your 4" Peacock.
Use the smallest tank possible. Fish show better in smaller tanks than large tanks.

If you bring large fish that require the floor space of a 29 gallon, do not think you can fill it up to the top.
1/2 to 2/3rds full is the maximum. Make sure you keep this in mind when deciding which fish to bring.

We look forward to seeing all of your show fish and want to make sure that this is an easy experience for you.
