Ganza thank yous!

Postby Scott Jackson » Sun Nov 20, 2011 8:05 pm

Just wanted to post a hearty Thank You for all that make the Extravaganza possible! We had a blast, got some great fish, made new friends and strengthened old friendships. Kudos to all!

Thanks to everyone who made it happen!
Had a great time, and everyone was so friendly and helpful.
Looking forward to next year...

In terms of improvements, it would be nice to have something to show the border guards other than just the paypal receipt for registration. I was thoroughly searched on the way down, he didn't believe me at all :)

Hi Jessica,

That is on our list of things to look at for the next show. This was our first year with full on-line registration. We're only fish geeks so it takes time to fin things out. I know bad joke but we'll make improvements so you won't get a thorough going over next time.

Thanks for the input. Dan

For the trip down, I had the confirmation of registration from the OCA and the Holiday Inn printed, as well as the speakers schedule, that helped to confirm the legitimacy of the event ... "Really, a 3 day Tropical Fish Convention ? " Yes, really !

For the trip back into Canada, it would have been nice to have some kind of receipt from the OCA with the species name of the fish purchased.
Starting in December there are certain species that are restricted or no longer allowed to be brought into Canada.
Also, you have to convince the border/customs agent that you are a hobbyist, and your full time job is not an importer/wholesaler/professional fish breeder ;)

Hi everyone,

I haven't been to the extraganza for 7 or 8 years as I had to get out of fish hobby. It was great to see old friends agains and I made so new friends. Keep up the great work Ohio Cichlid club.
Thanks for everything

Great feedback from our friends up north. We'll see what we can do to accommodate.
Thanks,

I had a great time, it was well worth the 6 hrs of driving.

I was soo excited about obtaining my P.Friedrichsthalii & nacho chips, that I forgot my driver's license behind.
Thank you for mailing it back to me so quickly.

Our Treasurer, Rhonda, is great about responding quickly to processing auction records and returning licenses. We're fortunate to have her on the team! Seems one or two a year get left behind....
Thanks,
Don
