Parachromis Friedrichsthalii "La Ceiba Yellowhead"

So I just picked up 5 of these guys, they're still small biggest one is maybe 2". I have them in a 55g currently by themselves for grow out and was curious on their behavior. Now granted it they just went into the tank last night so this may be jumping the gun but is it normal for the youngins to hide all the time? Even when feeding I noticed if the food didn't float to them they didn't come out and grab it, tried cut up earthworm, blood worm and cichlid pellet. Not that I mind if I have to target feed in the area they're in as I realize its a big tank for the size they are but just making sure this is normal behavior for them. The tank is decorated with three groups of rocks to basically make three territories for them and I also have fake plants in with them as well as some driftwood pieces.

Any other info on keeping this guys would be greatly appreciated as well.

Thanks,
Dave.
