Green Terror odd pattern

Hello- I bought a juvenile (3 inch) Green Terror in my store shipment with an odd pattern. His right side is a blocky checker pattern, and his left side has nearly horizontal bands. He dominated the tank among larger siblings and Dempseys. Is he a genetic sport I should work with? Thank you for Info.
