Miecia Burden

One of our favourite people in CAOAC (Canadian Association of Aquarium Clubs) passed away on March 25, 2009. Miecia Burden was heavily involved in CAOAC and her local club KWAS (Kitchener-Waterloo Aquarium Society). At one point Miecia had up to 20 tanks that she was running in her house. Miecia joined KWAS in 1976, and CAOAC in 1978. She has always been on the board of CAOAC from that time on. She held various positions including President, Editor, Corresponding Secretary, Vice President, Recording Secretary, Membership and Information Binder. Up to February she held the positions of Recording Secretary, Membership and Information Binder.

Various awards she's been given are: Junior & Intermediate Breeder Awards (KWAS), Breeder of the Year (KWAS) 1979, Service Award (KWAS) 1980, Bob Daniells Service Award (KWAS) 1981, CAOAC Service Award 1985 and 2003, Junior Merit Award CAOAC 1981 (BAP), CAOAC Past Presidents Award 1989, Hobbyist of the Year (KWAS) 2001, Honorary Member (KWAS) 2001, President's Award (KWAS) 2003, CAOAC 25 Year Service Award 2002 and CAOAC Newsletter Award.

We have received word that Miecia Burden, an honourary member of KWAS and a well loved and respected involved member passed away today (March 25, 2009).

Miecia's contribution to KWAS and CAOAC cannot be measured.
We thank her for all of her contributions and friendship.
