my small tank has got the following fish:

8 Etroplus canarensis
12 Barilius canarensis (yup, the ones from Neil)
3 Paretroplus nourissati
7 Pachypanchax playfairi
4 Mochokiella paynee, (2 are the last oldies)

Nice, but hardly a "biotope". I don't know about the Barilius, but none of the other tankmates are Asian.

true true, it isn't that close.

maybe a "Etroplus tank" then? I wasn't planning on any other cichlid in there

the Barilius are B canarensis and these were caught and exported together with a bunch of larger Etroplus canarensis, all from the same river.
so the Barb and the Cichlid are definitely biotope buddies as they were caught together.
