Postby dkc41174 » Tue Sep 27, 2011 10:34 am

Hi, planning to acquire E.Caranensis... i also have E.Maculatus and planning to put them together.. is there a possibilty that they might breed together and produce a hybrid? As a cichlid lover, i dont want that to happen....

As E. canarensis is a fresh water fish and E. maculatus is normally looked upon as a brackish water fish then you have 2 species here with very different water type requirements so I wouldn't even consider mixing them.

I agree with the above post. I have my carnarensis in with Angelfish and they are thriving. They pretty much leave the Angels alone with an occasional nip here and there but at least I know the Carnarensis are safe in this tank.
