heyya

i have had my cichlids for about two weeks now and my female one has been acting strange since i got her and the male tryed attacking my dad when he was trying to put the new plants in that we got them. i have got a volcano in my tank that i got them from pets at home and i have just turned the light on and there are probably more than one hundred eggs on the volcano and she is still rubbing against it.

at first she had a black bit on her egg tube and then a few days later her egg tube started pertrude.

:D :D :D :D :D :D :) :) :) :) :) :)

but i have just got to wait now and see if they hatch so i will let you know if any of them hatch.

:) :) :) :)

i`ll write bk soon and keep you up to date

Well.. sounds to me like your cichlids have spawned. Do you have any idea what species you have?

Well... if you want to try to hatch the fry, you should try to remove the white eggs. They will probably be bad and fungus. The fungus will spread to healthy eggs if not removed.

As to how long to hatch, etc. That we can't help with without knowing the species for sure, and your tank temperature.

Ok, since they are bloody red parrots, odds are that the eggs are infertile anyways. That said, there are some bloody red parrots that seem to be fertile.
If yours are fertile, I would imagine that they'd take after the species in their heritage (they are a cross breed). So.. probably hatch in 2-3 days and be wrigglers for awhile before freeswimming.

Sorry I can't help more but there's not really alot of information out there on this topic.
