How much do I feed my Oscar?

Postby terrorbull1 » Sun Jun 01, 2008 3:35 am

Hi all, :D
I am a new Oscar owner. I have had him since he was a tiny baby. He is now over a year old and is approx 8 ins long. My question is...how much do I feed him each day? He is in a 4ft tank.
So far I feed him a variety of frozen, pellets and peas. I usually feed him 3 blocks of the frozen in the morning and then some peas or pellets in the evening.....
He seems fine, does a lot of poo....which I syphon out every 2nd day and he loves to push his ping pong ball around the tank....

I do not want to starve him or to overfeed him.....

Thanks for any advice,

actually,

I think you are doing quite nicely - growing it 7 inches in approx. a year

Therefore, I don't think you will need much advise

It sounds like he has a varied diet, and is growing fine. Good job.

Got a picture of him/her?

I think twice a day is overfeeding him. Once a day should be fine and it would be o.k to miss a day every once and a while. I'm doing research on the same subject because I had a problem with my waste levels and so far I'm learning that overfeeding is very common in the hobby. I will re-post when I learn more about this subject.
