6*2*2 tank - C.furcifer?

A place to discuss the wonderful assemblage of lake Tanganyika cichlids from the tribe Ectodini, like Callochromis, Xenotilapia, Enantiopus, Cyathopharynx and Ophthalmotilapia!

6*2*2 tank - C.furcifer?

Post by crazyfishy » Wed Nov 16, 2011 1:00 am

Hi Folks
Have a 170 gallon tank with 6*2 footprint, can I house 4-5 C.furcifer in there safely considering that they grow huge :) also, what are the possibilities of adding a few other tank mates...any ideas would be great...
Thanks in advance
Cheers!

The footprint of your tank is fine for housing your furcifer. I have successfully spawn both furcifer and Altolamprologus compressiceps at the same time in the same tank. I have also kept Paracyprichromis with them before. You just want to make sure the furcifer are the dominant fish in the tank to have success with them.

Many thanks for the reply :)
Also, for the tankmate suggestions...I will try and source P.nigripinnis to keep my C.furcifer company

Cheers!
