Posting pictures

To post an image, you will need to have your photo uploaded somewhere on the net that doesn't use a login screen to access your photos (e.g. you can't use yahoo). You cannot use images stored on your harddrive.

Please use the following format in your messages.

{img}http://www.mypictureurl/mypicture.jpg{/img}

Please replace the { with [ and } with ]

It will look like this but without the spaces...

I am having problems posting from Flickr, it seems that they are cracking down posts in the aforementioned style. They give this HTML code but I can not get it to link back and show the photo, even though I have reset my HTML settings in my profile:

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/72582470@N00/172387801/" title="Photo Sharing"><img src="http://static.flickr.com/78/172387801_4fda090e86_o.jpg" width="480" height="289" alt="Scan by Dr. Eric Hanneman" /></a>

This code is read as simply gibberish. Any suggestions as to how I can get around this?

It's doable, but not nice. You have to open the page the image is on. Right click the pic for the properties and copy the address making sure the .jpg is the last part of the url.

OR

Just copy the url (img src) from within all that code you posted.

See below:

The example you posted ends up like this:

Code: Select all

Isn't this what Flickr is telling me to avoid (they have a specific warning on the page that says not to copy and paste the URL from my pages into others, etc.

I have no idea on what flickr's rules are. The site I use is photobucket.com. I find it's easy to work with, and they give you several options on how to link your pic from them.

I would like to encourage the posting of pictures (or pdf files) as attachments to posts instead of links to files in other servers, as this gives an historic value to the arcades in the forum. Links to files in remote servers can dissapear over a period of time. This is one of the new feautures of version 3 of phpBB that I am more excited about. Present posts can be edited to include current picture links as attachments.

Thanks

To update the method for posting pictures:

Hit reply, or new topic, and under where you write is a section with two tabs. One is called options, and the other is called Upload attachment. Click upload attachment. Then find your image where it says browse. You can put comments with it in the box underneath browse. Then hit "add the file", and it will be attached to your post. You can leave it like that, or click show inline which makes the image viewable immediately to all.

OR you can still do the photobucket, or other hosting site way.
