Nice set up, I would hate to know what you have invested in these bemba's. I cant find them for under forty dollars. The lfs I buy from had one in their display tank and he was beautiful, I asked them to order me in one and the same week their distribudor quick stocking them. I really want one of these guys but may not get the chance if I cant' find one locally around atlanta.

Hi RMR, thanks for your comment. I am at China, and do really have difficulty having imported, WC/F1 cichlids at a reasonable price. When I browsed around earlier in cichlid forum, there were many sellers of good cichlids who sells in Europse and N. America. Did you really not find one? There is even some sellers/sponsor on this exact forum!

Yea, I have two very very nice fish only stores near my house that have a good selection of cichlids, they are having trouble finding them as well. If you or anyone else knows where I can find one around atlanta please let me know. These are awesome fish and would make an excellent addition to my tank. I dont want to order one and have it shipped in as I believe the cost would be getting alittle higher than I could justify paying. No more than forty dollars.

Try Atlantis in New York; not your lfs. An LFS buys from a local wholesaler who probably doesn't know the difference between those and gold fish. I think Peter sells 3" bembas for about $25. Straight from the Brichards ponds.

Tropheus need to be kept in colonies of at least 8 if not more. A single in a community tank with mixed dietary needs may not live long.

Thanks for the info Tony, but unfortunatly I have already called atlantis, and while thats a very good price for a bemba of that size, after shipping one would have close to seventy dollars or more in this fish. I just cant bring myself to spend that on one of these for two reasons.... the first being that I want to personally hand pick my bemba out of a few choices as I want a male with a jet black front and backside, I have seen alot that have a very dull front end which I dont really care for, that may sound alittle harsh but I am very picky on what I put in my tank and afterall, the truth of the matter is the only reason I want this perticular fish is due to its looks. The next reason I am skeptical on spending money like that on one of these is that I have done research til Im blue in the face and talked with many knowledable people on troph's and they seem to be fairly difficult to keep healthy. I am an experianced cichlid keeper and have a pretty good feeling about getting one of these guys and keeping it healthy but at this point I am just going to wait it out until my local fish store can get a few nice sized fish in for me. Thanks for your input anyhow, please respond if you feel you could help me in any other manner whether it be bemba advice or advise on where to find some of these around atlanta. Thanks again. Rick
