I need some moderate help. I have a colony of about 25 fish and they are all shimmying. I am changing the water and adding salt and maricine 2. Will this help with the shimmy. ?

I guess you meen Maracyn 2 ? http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/p ... catid=4842 Yep think that should do for bacteria just not familar with it myself.
Active ingredient Minocycline a broad-spectrum tetracycline antibiotic. If it does not then prob switch to one of the others in case its not bacterial and a parasite or flagellate.
Advantage of Metro is it works on anaerobic bacteria and flagellates and Clout is a nasty strong med but hits all three.
Tetra Parasite Guard seems to be a new kid on the block. May take over if available in your country.
Prob for us in the UK is most of these are not licenced for sale here.

I dunno if salt (NaCl) helps much. Sure it lowers the numbers of bacteria in the short term and reduces osmotic stress on damaged gills and skin ect but can have long term bad effects I think if over used. More usual to use Epsom salts (Magnesium sulphate) these days I think.
