tribi for the Old World species

Postby jfk » Thu Apr 07, 2005 1:56 am

Subfamilies and tribi for the South American cichlids were proposed by Kullander. But for the cichlids of the Old World this information is not so clear. For Tanganyikan cichlids there're the tribi proposed in the revision of Dr. Poll, 1986 and Takahashi, 2003, all species from Lake Victoria are Haplochromini, Tilapiini are well described in the book of Dr. Trewavas. But what about the placement of other genera from Malawi, Madagascar and Western Africa? I would like to know are any other tribi for the rest of species, besides Etropiini, Lamprologini, Pseudocrenilabrini and Haplochromini?

Check out Dr. Anton Lamboj's book: The Cichlid Fishes of Western Africa.
