A new species of Paretroplus (Teleostei: Cichlidae: Etroplinae) from northeastern Madagascar, with a phylogeny and revised diagnosis for the P. damii clade

Sparks must have changed his mind, as he previously considered the Ventitry to be a race of P. damii. I'm glad he saw it from Loiselle's perspective.

True. If I remember correctly, this fish was "formally described" a few years ago online, but was not valid due to not being correctly published.

An elaborate and informative paper. But why they dont formally name “anjingo”?
There are surely serious reason for it. However, it will be difficult and might be time consuming to find and link all information about this species in future, because there will be different names for it (see the case of Paretroplus sp. “ventitry” which is now named as P. loisellei).
