I was browsing http://www.cichlidpress.com a couple days ago, and noticed this link to the Stuart M. Grant Cichlid Conservation Fund:

In a nut shell, Jay Stauffer and Ad Konings are working with some folks on Lake Malawi to cut down the illegal gill net fishing practices that are wiping out many of the native species. Donations go toward building devices that snag these nets, making them impossible to use. These devices are surprisingly inexpensive ($13 ea) and have been very successful.
