I think its practical value depends on the kind of fishes you intend to keep
For Central Americans it is a waste of money, for amazxonian / West Africa fishes it might be worth every penny
Do remember, fishes don't vcare for hardness, they care for osmotic values - and as almost all atuff influencing osmotic values are charged, the conductivity equals osmotic value
However, such meters are in every price available, and a 50 euro one might not be as good as a 500 euro one, but for our purposes they suffice - especially as you intend to use the same every time
