Many people get their rocks from garden supply stores.

Definitely try the landscape type stores. They will be under Sand, Gravel etc., in the yellow pages. Better selection and better prices!

I have bought some from Burnco for about 10% of what the LFS charge. The last rocks that I picked up was rundle rock cost me $8 for 50 pounds.

In a former life I was a minerals exploration geologist. My work took me to many "interesting" locations. Some had very unique rocks that are now in my aquariums. Since I have some knowlege about what rocks should and should not be in aquarium, I have an advantage. I don't recommend adding rocks if you don't know about their composition.

I see your location is Cleveland, Ohio... There is a place in Akron, Ohio called Ohio Beauty Cut Stone. I get my rock there. Really cheap, and easy to deal with, they will sell you as little as one stone if that is all you need. Last time I bought 450lbs of flagstone for $56 after tax. Their phone number is 330-644-2241 and their web address is http://www.ohiobeautycutstone.net/

Hope that helps...
