is anybody familiar with these books? Are they worth the money? Is there something out there that gives you the same type of info but better or cheaper?

Those are the ones by Pablo Tepoot. They are great picture books. I believe it shows both males and females of the fish pictured. Information like breeding, feeding, etc. is a bit lacking.

What sort of cichlids are you mainly interested in? I suspect Malawi, but I can't say that for sure. A good choice for Malawi and Tanganyika is Ad Koning's books.

Google? Takes up a lot less space than those big multi-volume books.

The books mentioned above are all good, the ones you're asking about are great visual aids but as Lisa said, not a ton of other info.

I know this is a dated post but I figured I'd put this out there for anyone who stumbles onto it in the future. Since then, there have been numerous ebooks/kindle books released regarding cichlids and cichlid species. Go to Amazon and just do a general search for cichlids. Whatever comes up towards the top of the results will be your best bet.
