Hospital Tanks

I feel stupid asking this question, but, for those that have hospital tanks running, what do you do when you return a sick (now healthy) fish back to the aquarium? Do you empty the whole hospital tank and start over? What do you do to avoid contamination?

If the fish is cured, then the tank is left empty for a couple of weeks before being used again. If the fish dies, then the sponge filter and entire tank is sterilized with 10% bleach.
