Selling diseased fish

Postby holly1 » Fri Feb 04, 2011 5:10 am

if a retailer knowingly sells diseased fish, can legal action be taken against them?
This would need to be proven,by a pathologist of course.
Thanks,in advance

Good question Holly. I personally wouldn't think so no but it's always worth asking for advice

I was fortunately diverted from an unfortunate episode a few months back which would have made me consider legal action when I nearly bought some WC's from a guy in Stevenage UK who was selling wilds which were infected with Columnaris and decided to reduce his prices as a Christmas offer to get rid. Boy, that was a close one

Hope someone else can help you better

Please be careful with this topic. I've moderated a few things regarding this sort of topic lately, and as long as we stick with generalities, I'll allow it. No names of businesses should be mentioned on the forum.

It's hard to prove intent. I think most retailers should do their best not to sell any sick or diseased fish.
