Distraction is not good... Let me explain... My wife Lora comes down stairs and sees a bunch of fish bags lined up on the couch and asks if I tranq'd the fish. I said not really just using bag buddies, then proceeds to ask or say "Why are they dead then? Some of them look dead honey." So I'm like what ever, they're not dead... A few minutes go by and I come out of the fish room with a couple more bags and notice it myself... It seems the bucket I was using to stage a few fish was the bucket I just used to soak some plastic plants in bleach water... So I've losta few fish... Two steps foreward, Three back...

Everything's bagged! Yay! Now I'm going to make some labels for the bags, fill out my seller sheet and pack everything up!

Seems I've failed... My goal in the hobby is to discourage people from purchasing fish that grow to enormous sizes. Just yesterday one of my very good friends bought a false tigrinus, two TSN/RTC hybrids and four peacock bass.... He's got a 240 and a 150... That have fish in them already... So guess where his noewly aquired fish are? My fish room.... Sweet, not only do I have the responsibility of someone elses fish, I have the responsibility of someone elses very EXPENSIVE fish... Sweet....

This past Wed I brought home a white jack dempsey... anyone ever see one of those? It's an adult, and in quaranteen... only paid $12.99 for it... Thought it was interesting. I had seen them on the internet before but never in person... I'm gonna try and make more. :)

Actually enjoyed my fish this morning for the first time in a long time. Fed one tank at a time and watched them eat instead of running through the fish room dropping food in and going to work. I have cryptoheros siquia fry and my sajica have their breeding tubes down along with the pair of amazonarum I took out of the big tank to spawn for a friend. Very enjoyable time in the fish room this morning! Enjoy your fish!

Is the white Jack Dempsey a hybrid or a mutation.

Where did you find the white Jack Dempsey? I'd like to see one in the flesh.

I got it at a pet store in Pittsburg. It must be a male as my big male has no interest in it! Lol as for seeing it in person, you're welcome here anytime.

Can I ask how you leveled your tank?

Im trying to build one in my basement and the floor has a crack in it. So the left side is lower than the right side.

Should I use wood shims, make a shim from a 2x4 or use concrete?

Thanks

Framing should be made out of treated lumber, I'd make shims out of treated or frame to the floor.

How would I frame to the floor?

Would that mean nailing the sill to the floor?

If so how would one correct for the uneven floor?

-Yes, or screwing it.

By making the top plate level and adjusting the stud lengths as needed.

What size tank are you building?
What are you making it out of?
How far along are you?
Is it going to be a permanent thing or are you planning to move it some day?

I am looking at a 8 foot by 18 inches by 2 feet

I have a base framed up. Built it just like a wall with 2x4 studs but on 1 foot centers.

When or if I sell the house the tank will hopefully come with me.

I used your tank as a blueprint.

Something that small does not need a frame for support. 3/4" plywood will suffice. Build the stand for it and then level the stand...
