I don't think it has anything to do with whether or not wilds are nice enough. I think it has to do with people. People like to change things, especially if they can. That's why we have many types of dogs, cats, horses, etc. That's why we have many colour types of bettas and guppies. That's why we have mutts like flowerhorns. Because we can....
I posted the pics since I figured someone is bound to like them. I'm not much into albino fish but some people are. If showing these pics makes someone new go to ACA to check it out, so much the better.
Personally, I like wilds. I also like many of the colour forms out there. I'd love a tank with both types in it. I think it would be a pretty tank. Of course, I also like tanks with some sort of decor and substrate and many discus keepers keep bare bottom tanks. Does that make me right and them wrong (or vice-versa)? Nope. It's whatever works for you.
If you like wild discus better, keep them. There are many beautiful wild discus out there. If you like German or Asian ones, keep those. I think cichlid keepers are a breed unto themselves. A very interesting one, though!
We should all try to get along. At least we shouldn't attack each other for having a different viewpoint on the fish we keep.
