Swim Bladder Issues

I have a rescue cichlid that is swimming vertically. It just started when the weather in New Orleans got freakishly cold (tanks are in the garage). I increased the temp and fasted the fish to no avail. I've also been treating with anti bacterial meds. Is there anything else that should be done or th...

“Jack Dempsey” Variants & Rocio Questions

I recently rescued what I believe to be Rocio octofacsiata. I haven’t kept this species for about 20 years. I started researching the fish and discovered that there are two new “Jack Dempsey” type species. After searching the forum, I discovered that the resident experts question the validity of hav...

Cichlid Temps Question

I currently have three tanks running in my garage. I live in South Louisiana so it gets pretty hot where I live. My tanks range from 86-90 degrees. Is that too hot in expert opinions? I keep Trichromis salvini, Amatitlania nigrofasciata, and exLamprologus brevis (African, I know). Are those ranges s...

Thanks for the replies. I didn't see a Tapajos II. Is it listed as something else?

Crenicichla sp Cobra

I'm interested in this species. I wanted to research the fish but I don't know it's scientific nomenclature. What's the fish listed as in the catelog?

Re: Criboheros robertsoni

Those robertsoni look like the ones that I had in '05. They hated each other.

Re: Criboheros robertsoni

Thanks for this info. I was considering getting some red cheek Robertsoni from Rapps but he has them as cf. robertsoni. I was concerned that they wouldn't resemble the robertsoni that I see on the net. There are visual differences if that is the question. Cf. has more red and less intense blue. I w...

Criboheros robertsoni

Is the 'Red Cheek' robertsoni from Rio Jutiapa the same as Criboheros robertsoni or is it considered a specie of its own?
