Agustín Antonio Fernandéz Yépes (1916-1977) was a Venezuelan (born in Valencia, Venezuela) ichthyologist who dedicated his life to scientific research and conservation. He left more than a hundred publications about ichthyology and other branches of knowledge. Four species are dedicated on his name: Laemolyta fernandezi Myers, 1950 (Anostomidae), Farlowella agustini Martín Salazar, 1964 (Loricariinae, synonym of Farlowella vittata), and Uaru fernandezyepezi Stawikowski 1989 (Cichlidae).
