Jaguar Pair and a Pleco

Postby Dave763 » Thu Mar 04, 2004 10:55 am

I have a pair of Jaguars in with a pleco. The female looks like she is getting ready to lay eggs for the second time. The male ate the first ones.Should I remove the pleco? The tank is not divided. I thought things were getting rough, so I put a eggcrate divider with an opening for the female to fit through, and she went to the males side of the tank and stayed there! So I removed the divider. He is a big brute! But I guess she likes him!

Thanks, Dave

Hi Dave,

Well that is a good debate. Pesonally I don't like pleco's, so of course I think it should be removed. As far as whether you need a divider or not for your jags, is really up to your observations. However, be aware that this love fest can change at any moment. Most hobbyists like to provide at least some type of cover so that if they do get in a tiff, the abused has a place to get away, before getting trashed. Eggcrate is one way to go, but a flower pot or cave can provide a safe haven too.
